A WOMAN aged 67 went missing at the weekend.

Eleanor Birrell was last seen at her home in Shelley at 6.30pm on Friday.

Mrs Birrell, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, is white and 5ft 5in tall, with brown, curly, collar-length hair.

She is slim and has brown eyes.

She was wearing a knee-length green dress, beige shoes, a white cardigan and her wedding ring when she went missing.

Police officers, the West Yorkshire Police helicopter and Holme Valley Moorland Rescue Team, as well as specialist search dogs, are searching a stretch of land between Shelley down to Thunderbridge for her.

Peter Phillips, team leader at Holme Valley Moorland Rescue Team, said: "Our group, assisted by Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team and dogs from the Search and Rescue Dog Association, spent more than 10 hours searching woodland in the Kirkburton area for a missing woman.

"Over 30 personnel were involved in the operation on Saturday and early yesterday."
