YOUNGSTERS at Castle Hill School had seaside fun right in their own classroom when a local artist came to visit.

Shells and driftwood and the sounds of the sea helped set a beach scene as the children at the Newsome school got to work creating their masterpieces.

They worked with artist Zoe Carratt on the project, which was called Sands of Time: Art 4 All Project.

Gillian Messenger, the head teacher’s PA, said: “The theme was making sand sculptures and the children used seaside items like shells and driftwood to make imprints in clay.

“Zoe worked with all the children over three days, helping them create big clay tiles which are going to be stuck outside the school.

“The children loved playing with the items; there was also a sound and visual effect plasma screen which meant they could see and hear the sounds of the sea too.’’
