WEST Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is to host another summer gala after last year's event proved tremendously popular.

The gala at the Birkenshaw headquarters was the first to be staged for many years.

But it attracted crowds of 4,000 people, so the service has decided to hold another on Saturday, July 9, at the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters on Bradford Road in Birkenshaw.

Chief Fire Officer Phil Toase said: "After last year's response from the public we were more than happy to hold the event again this year.

"Our committee is already working extremely hard to ensure a wide range of activities, stalls, food, drink and entertainment."

The gates will open at 11.45am and more details will be announced nearer the time.
