HUDDERSFIELD'S first anti-violence conference and dance event was held in Deighton.

The Stop the Violence event at the Deighton Centre was organised by members of various Huddersfield communities.

Guest speakers talked to an audience of young people about how to address issues of violence in communities.

Related issues such as drugs, crime and race were also dealt with by the speakers.

They included policing and race relations expert Lee Jasper, West Yorkshire Assistant Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell, Mothers Against the Gun founder Lucy Cope and local rap poet Donovan Christopher.

The speakers alternated on stage with entertainers.

The Hudawi Centre's children's gospel choir, True Colours, performed, along with pupils of Huddersfield street dance school Suga Brown.

Once the speakers had finished, conference guests danced the afternoon away.

They enjoyed music from entertainers including Mr Rue, Danman, North Vibes, Chilli and Iceman.
