SEVEN people arrested during drugs police raids in Kirklees have been released on bail.

The arrests of a 16-year-old girl and five men began after police stopped a car in the Seacroft area of Leeds at 8pm on Tuesday.

Suspected drugs were seized and police then raided homes in Ravensthorpe and Birstall, where drugs with a street value of £20,000 and drugs paraphernalia are alleged to have been seized.

A 26-year-old man and the 16-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Further house searches in the area yesterday led to five more men being detained on suspicion of drugs trafficking.

All have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries and forensic tests on the substances seized.

They are being investigated for the Class A drugs heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine and the Class C drug cannabis.

Police have once again urged people to phone with information on drug-dealing.

Sgt Anil Shukla, of Kirklees District Drugs Team, said: "We will do everything we can to drive drugs out of Kirklees communities.

"We are determined to identify those people we believe are responsible for supplying drugs in our area and would urge the public to support us by contacting Crimestoppers."
