WHO scrawled this graffiti across our town's walls and buildings?

Police and Kirklees Council would like to know.

And today we launch a unique appeal to help them find out.

We've taken the unusual step of naming and shaming the taggers, in the hope that Examiner readers will recognise nicknames and call Crimestoppers.

The move comes during our week-long Scrub It campaign, aimed at to cleaning up Huddersfield.

But we need your help. We want you to "sprag on a tagger".

A tag is a pattern or name the vandals uses as a signature.

If you know whose tags these are then shop them - and make Huddersfield a better place.

Who are Sinz, Snooze, NV, Quiz and Enzo? If you know call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The Examiner teamed up with Kirklees Council to stage Scrub It.

Highways officials are now offering community groups the chance to claim their free scrubbing kit to keep buildings and walls clean.

Clr Ann Denham, Cabinet member for highways, said taggers need to understand the damage they cause.

"Areas that are covered in graffiti are intimidating and give the impression they are run down," she said.

"We need to target these areas and target the people who are making them a mess. Harder punishment would certainly send a message out to these people so I would encourage anyone with information to call Crimestoppers."

Community groups can get a scrubbing kit from Becky McNeil at Kirklees Council on 01484 416828.
