LITTLE Shanaya Cuff is a winner – at just 10 months old.
The Lindley baby was named today as the Examiner Baby Of The Year 2009, after scooping 544 votes in a contest which attracted several hundred entries.
And she’s following in mum’s footsteps. Mum Nicola Baldwin, of Lindley, won a contest in the summer to find a Bond girl for a shopping promotion in Huddersfield – and her baby was number 007 in the competition.
Nicola, of King Street, said: “It is tremendous news.
“I got the call to tell me Shanaya had won just as we were celebrating her sister Jayda’s second birthday. It meant it was a perfect day.
“She’s a really happy baby, always smiling”.
Shanaya is the daughter of Nicola and Leon Cuff.
Nicola added: “Lots of my friends and family voted for her and it is such a thrill”.
Runner-up in the contest was 15-month-old Maisie Lumb.
Maisie is the daughter of Aaron and Laura Lumb and the couple are also celebrating more good news – they are expecting twins in February.
Laura and Aaron, an IT consultant, live in Brookside, Slaithwaite.
Maisie received 370 votes and Laura said: “I’m really delighted.
“She is a lively little toddler and always wants entertaining but she’s a great little girl”.
The third place prize went to Ramaya Noel, of Newsome.
Ramaya is the 19-month-old daughter of Charis Jobarteh and Leon Noel, who live in Wood Terrace.
Charis also has an eight-year-old daughter, Tianna.
She said: “It’s wonderful news and I’m grateful to all who voted for her”. Ranaya got 356 votes.
The winning baby will collect the gleaming Baby Of the Year trophy as well as a 20in x 16in canvas portrait, worth £225, from John Wood photographic studios.
The two runners-up will each receive 14in x 11in canvas portraits, each worth £160.
