ABDUCTED schoolgirl Shannon Matthews’ ‘aunt’ has won early release from her prison sentence for benefit fraud.

Amanda Hyett, 27, was jailed for a year last November for illegally claiming more than £35,000 in benefits.

She has now left custody at Wakefield’s New Hall Prison after serving just a quarter of her term.

Mother-of-two Hyett admitted claiming a range of benefits while failing to tell the authorities she lived with her husband Neil Hyett. She is paying back £10 a week.

Hyett, who lived on King Edward Street, Thornhill Lees, before she was jailed, was a prominent figure following the disappearance of Shannon Matthews last year.

Hyett and her husband helped with searches for the youngster.

She lived next door to the schoolgirl and is the sister of Shannon’s mother Karen’s former partner, Craig Meehan.
