A lorry driver has been jailed for eight years for sex offences against a 13-year-old girl.
Dean Nicholas George Porter, 30, was sentenced after he was found guilty by a jury at Leeds Crown Court last month of sexual assault and sexual activity with a child.
Rukhshanda Hussain prosecuting told the court that the offences happened when the girl and one of her friends were staying overnight at an address where Porter returned after a night out.
He knew the complainant and her family and was expected to be sleeping on the sofa that night while the girls were staying at the same address as him.
But during the night the complainant heard him come into the room where she and her friend were sleeping and he put his hand inside her pyjamas and touched her sexually.
The girl said she kept her eyes closed because she did not know what to do. Porter then left the room but returned a short time later and this time squeezed one of her breasts.
Miss Hussain said the girl sent a text message to her brother telling him what Porter had done.
Her brother only read it later that morning by which time the complainant and the other girl had spoken about what happened.
When Porter was arrested he denied the allegations and said he only went into the room to get a phone charger that had been left there.
Porter, 30 of Drysdale Fold, Sheepridge, continued his denials at trial.
Chloe Hudson representing him put references before the court yesterday and said he had worked hard as an HGV driver. “It is no exaggeration to say this conviction has ruined his life.”
She said he was described as kind, considerate and helpful. “He has lost his good character and is devastated by what has happened.”
Jailing Porter Judge Sally Cahill QC said having returned to the address after he had been drinking he went into the bedroom where the girls were sleeping and committed the offences.
“Your victim was only 13.”
