SICK of nasty fir tree needles in your car?

Then let the scouts take your tree away and help the environment.

Shelley Scouts will be out and about recycling Christmas trees this coming weekend.

Last year the group recycled more than 100 trees and this year they return on Saturday, January 7, collecting Christmas trees from the Shelley, Shepley, Kirkburton and Highburton areas of Huddersfield.

The trees are recycled by shredding and mulching.

A donation of £5 towards the group’s fundraising initiative secures your collection.

The funds will help pay for the general running costs of the group which has more than 25 beavers, 25 cubs and 20 scouts.

They meet on a Tuesday evening in three different locations – Kirkburton Salvation Army Hall, Shelley Village Hall and Shelley Methodist Church.

Bookings are being taken up to Friday.
