MORE than 100 shepherds and their dogs gathered to show off their skills.
The historic annual Harden Moss Sheepdog Trials took place on the moors above Holmfirth at the weekend.
The 102nd competition saw more than 200 dogs put through their paces at a host of different trials.
Spokeswoman Helen Jubb said the event had been a success after last year’s wash- out that forced the cancellation of two days of trials.
“Given the inclement weather it’s been better than expected and we managed to run all the trials,” she said.
“We’ve had wonderful support from the local community – they’ve still been coming through the gates.”
The Supreme Champion crown was won by Shirley Cropper and her dog Tess from Bacup, Lancashire.
The sheepdog trials also featured a host of trade stands and country crafts. Results will be printed in The Examiner later in the week.
