AIN’T she sweet!

Nine-month-old Remaiyah Gilray is the bonniest baby in Huddersfield – and that’s official.

The Dalton youngster has been voted the Examiner Baby of the Year 2007.

Delighted mum Rebecca, of Coniston Avenue, said: “People have always commented about her being a pretty baby.

“All my family and friends voted and the local newsagent down the road was encouraging everyone to ring and vote for her.”

Remaiyah, who weighed in at a healthy 7lb 6oz when she was born at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, is a second daughter for Rebecca.

She also has Demi who will be three in December.

Almost 400 babies were entered in the competition and more than 7,000 votes were received. Remaiyah gained 643 votes.

As the winner, Remaiyah will receive a 20x16 inch portrait, worth £375, donated by John Woods Photography plus the prestigious engraved Baby of the Year Trophy to keep for a year.

Second prize went to 14-month-old Harvey Castle-Jenkins, of Grimescar, Birkby, who will receive a 12x10 inch portrait. He polled 614 votes.

Harvey, who started walking just six weeks ago, is described by his mum Jane as “very laid back.”

He is Jane and husband Ben’s first child.

Seven-month-old Nell Platts, of Marsh, came third with 536 votes. She will also receive a 12x10 inch portrait. Nell is the daughter of Jason and Kellie Platts. They also have a four-year-old son Joe.
