BRIGHOUSE cinema history is to feature in a national magazine this month.
The Albert – now the Barracuda Bar – The Savoy, which is now Brighouse Civic Hall, and The Ritz are detailed in a quarterly journal, The Mercia Bioscope.
The publication, by the Mercia Cinema Society, chronicles from when Brighouse Town Hall became a cinema to the closure of the Albert – the town’s last picture house – in 1972.
The Mercia Bioscope (No 107) is available for £3, including postage, from Mervyn Gould, 29 Blackbrook Court, Loughborough, Leicestershire LE11 5UA.
Cheques should be made payable to Mercia Cinema Society.
