TWO men arrested by police investigating a Huddersfield murder almost three years ago have been released.

The two aged 38 and 23 were detained in the early hours of yesterday morning by detectives investigating the shooting of garage mechanic Brian Hardwick.

They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Hardwick, a 50-year-old father-of-two, was killed at Huddersfield Car Electrical Services where he worked.

He was shot in the head and chest after he found his car tyre punctured as he left work on November 21, 2001.

Mr Hardwick's body was found early the next morning.

His wallet was stolen and his cashpoint card was used at Asda supermarket in Huddersfield minutes after the killing to withdraw £350.

Mr Hardwick lived with his 53-year-old wife, Lynne, in Wibsey, Bradford.

The couple married just six months before his death.
