A MAN was stabbed in a robbery at a Colne Valley takeaway.

Three masked men armed with a gun, knife and screwdriver walked into the Yaadgaar takeaway on Britannia Road in Slaithwaite at 11.45pm last night.

The 56-year-old owner was clearing up and his 33-year-old son was in the cellar when the robbers struck.

They demanded cash and began to grapple with the owner.

His son heard the noise and rushed to help. He grabbed hold of one of the intruders but was threatened with the weapons.

He was stabbed in the hand and one of the other robbers then hit him with a fire extinguisher, causing a head wound.

When he realised another robber had a gun, he let go and thieves fled. It’s not clear at this stage if money was taken.

The injured man was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and was still there early today.

Tim O’Sullivan from Kirklees CID intelligence unit said: “This was a nasty robbery and these men had an array of weapons with them and were prepared to use one of them to escape.

“It is vital that anyone who may have seen them hanging around in Slaithwaite before the offence was committed or escaping afterwards comes forward and talks to us.

“Did they escape on foot or did they have a getaway vehicle parked nearby?’’

All three are white, between 5ft 8ins tall and 6ft and all wore black clothes and balaclavas.
