A ROBBER shouted ‘Don’t look at me or I’ll shoot you’ to a shopkeeper during a terrifying ordeal.

Seconds earlier three masked men had stormed the newsagents in Crosland Moor equipped with the gun and two knives.

The nasty robbery – the second in a month – happened at Jat’s Superstore in Nabcroft Rise, Crosland Moor at 9.30pm on Thursday.

Armed police were sent to the scene.

Shopkeeper Talish Mahmood Ahmed was in the store with Malik Chaudhry and his cousin, who does not wish to be named.

Mr Ahmed said: “Three masked men came in with big knives and a gun.

“They shouted at us to kneel down on the floor and pointed the gun at us, then started trashing the place.

“One of them dragged my friend, who used to work in the shop, behind the counter to open the till.

“They pointed the gun and a knife at him while he did it.

“I was on the floor and tried to look up to see what was happening but they kept shouting and swearing saying ‘Keep down, don’t look at me or I’ll shoot you’.

“I did as they said, because it was only a few hundred pounds in the till. I thought, ‘it’s not worth it’.

“They took everything they could. They put bottles of vodka and whisky and cash from the till in blue shop bags.”

And they even forced the owner to empty his pockets and hand over his phone and £40 cash.

They stole £500 cash from the till, a laptop and alcohol and cigarettes.

Mr Ahmed alleged the robbers were the same as the previous incident which happened on December 6.

He added: “It makes me angry to think that people can do this.

“I am still in shock at the moment. The shop is a mess as they knocked bottles on the floor which smashed. We are still mopping up.”

He said he would have been on his own in the shop if it wasn’t for his friend Malik and cousin who were helping him install a new shelf when the robbers stormed in.

“They must have recognised Malik would know how to open the till as he used to work here.”

Father-of-three Mr Ahmed said he is now looking at getting increased security measures and even closing the store earlier than 11pm as he is shaken by his ordeal.

No-one was injured in the robbery.

Huddersfield detectives are now looking to trace the suspects who were caught on CCTV both in the store and the street.

Det Sgt Ian Thornes of Huddersfield CID said: “It is important we identify who these men are.

“Were you in the Nabcroft Rise or Everard Street area between 9.15 and 9.30pm on Thursday night? If so I would like to speak to you.

“If you any information about the robbery I would urge you to come forward.

“My team are carrying out a number of inquiries including viewing CCTV in order to establish who is responsible for this robbery.”

The suspects are described as wearing balaclavas and black hooded tops. Two were in their late teens or early 20s, one skinny and one tall.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Huddersfield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
