SHOPPERS in Huddersfield are being invited to nominate a charity to receive a year’s worth of fundraising.

Sainsbury’s Shorehead wants customers to put forward the names of local organisations that are important to them.

The top charity will become the store’s Local Charity Partner and receive 12 months of support.

This will come through staff fundraising, as well as helping to raise the profile of the charity within the Huddersfield community.

Last year the charity chosen for support was Kirkwood Hospice, which received more than £17,000.

Store manager Andy Stanbridge said: “The Local Charity Partner scheme really engages both our colleagues and customers.

“This is a great opportunity for our customers to give a local charity that’s close to their hearts the chance to receive fundraising and other support from Shorehead for a whole year.

“We now need our customers to come in and tell us who we should consider supporting.”

Customers can nominate charities until May 25 by filling out a form in store.

A shortlist will be drawn up and the top three charities will be invited to talk about how Sainsbury’s can support them.

One will then be chosen by the store.
