SHOPKEEPERS in Lindley are to give a children's charity another fundraising boost - just two months after raising £1,000 for it.

Retailers in Lindley have taken the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust very much to their hearts.

The charity aims to build a children's hospice somewhere near Ainley Top. A planning application for a site near the M62 has been sent to Kirklees Council.

Lindley shop owners held several fundraising events at Christmas.

Now, Diane Dutton, owner of fashion shop Options for 19 years, has organised another week-long fundraising scheme.

It will coincide with her retirement from the shop on Saturday, March 5.

On that day she will be handing over to Beverley Ellam, who has run the Keys Coffee House under Huddersfield Parish Church.

Diane said: "I wanted to do something more for the trust before I left the shop."

All the shops have rallied round to give raffle prizes which will be on display in the Options window on Lidget Street.

Raffle tickets will be on sale from Thursday at several shops in Lindley.

The Forget Me Not Trust mascot, Scooby Doo, will be around and it is hoped that children from Lindley Junior School will get involved, as they did at Christmas.

Fundraising games will be held at several shops in the days leading up to the raffle draw, which is at teatime on March 5.
