HUDDERSFIELD shop workers have been terrorised in a spate of robberies over the weekend.
Raiders struck at shops in Thongsbridge, Crosland Moor and Lockwood, using weapons ranging from machetes to guns.
Cash was stolen each time and police have urged anyone who knows anything about the crimes to contact them urgently.
The latest happened at 7.20am today, when two thieves walked into Thongsbridge Co-op on Springwood Road.
They threatened staff with a machete and a handgun, forcing them to hand over cash.
Two thieves armed with a baseball bat and a machete escaped with cash in a raid at the same shop on December 7.
In this morning's raid both thieves wore bala- clavas. One was green and the other blue.
In the Lockwood raid a teenage couple dressed alike walked into Singh's grocery store on Moor End Road at 4.30pm yesterday and threatened the lone woman assistant with a knife.
They demanded cash and she gave them some. They also stole some cigarettes.
The man is aged 17 to 19, 6ft 2in and slim.
The girl is aged 16 to 18, 5ft and skinny. She has a fair complexion and spots round her eyes.
Both wore identical clothes, grey hooded tops, dark scarves and grey jogging bottoms.
The third raid happened at A G Minimart on Church Avenue in Crosland Moor at 3.25pm on Friday.
Two thieves - one brandishing a large kitchen knife - threatened the 61-year-old man behind the counter and stole cash and cigarettes.
Both thieves are white and wore dark hooded tops.
Det Con Russ Conlon said: "It is vital that anyone who saw anything during these robberies, or has any information about them, contacts us immediately.
"These were very frightening crimes for the victims."
