SHOPKEEPERS in Lindley are promising a festive treat to raise money for a children's charity.

The traders have organised a late-night shopping extravaganza packed full of entertainment to bring in money for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.

The trust wants to build a children's hospice and has applied for planning permission for a site at Ainley Top.

The late-night shopping will be from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Tuesday, December 7, on Lidget Street.

Entertainment will include Lindley Band, carol-singing by Huddersfield People's Choir and a string quartet from Colne Valley High School, Linthwaite.

There will also be a children's treasure hunt, plus a Nativity trail from Lindley Infants School, along with other games.

Food and drink will include roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and home-made soup.

Shops offering discounts on the night include fashion boutiques Options and Pure, Gardners jewellers, children's clothes shop Banana Beach, opticians Bottomley and Ramsden and delicatessen Bubble And Squeak.

Other shops taking part in the event and giving raffle prizes are Decorum Interiors, butcher Gary Butler, greengrocers Village Greens and cafe bar Lindleys.
