A TRIAL to improve facilities for pedestrians at Shorehead roundabout in Huddersfield is about to start.
Kirklees Highways is due to upgrade the computer that controls the traffic signals in the area.
They say it will help pedestrians cross between the university and Kingsgate by the busy Shorehead roundabout.
The new timings have been devised so that the amount of green signal per hour will be similar to the existing arrangements. However, there will be more time to allow pedestrians to cross more safely at the end of Queensgate.
Temporary signs will be put up in advance of the live experiment, which is planned for the end of September and beginning of October.
If the trial is successful the improved facilities will be installed permanently.
