STUDENTS at Huddersfield New College learned about the delicate topic of finance at a government `Aimhigher' roadshow.

The event, supported by the NatWest bank, encourages young people whose families have not been to university before, to attend higher education.

The roadshow gave students the chance to talk through changes which will come into effect in 2006.

These include variable fees of up to £3,000 and the ending of up-front tuition payments.

The roadshow was housed in a 27ft education trailer.

Kim Howells, minister for Higher Education, said: "Aimhigher is one of the ways in which young people can learn what financial support the government provides to help them to study at University."

Students also received information on general budgeting and money matters by student finance experts from NatWest.
