FOOTPATHS and bridleways in the Denby Dale area will soon become easier to follow.

Trained volunteers will put up signs under the guidance of Kirklees Council's public rights of way unit.

Waymarks will be placed on paths in Emley, Shepley, Clayton West and Skelmanthorpe, as well as Denby Dale itself.

The discs, which measure 3.5in in diameter, will be attached to stiles and fence posts.

A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: "The waymarks will help guide walkers and riders on routes that may be unclear.

"They will also benefit landowners because unintentional trespass will be reduced."
