A runner has taken on a series of challenges for charity.

Simon Hanson, 43, aims to complete six runs in 2015 to raise funds for Elland-based Overgate Hospice.

Already Simon has completed the Inverness Marathon, the Silverstone Half Marathon, the Overgate 10k Challenge and the London Marathon.

On May 25, he will take part in the Bupa 10k in London and his final challenge will be the Great North Run in September.

He said: “Several of my friends have had family members spend time at Overgate and I know that the care and support they provide is invaluable.

“I am in the Armed Forces and so fitness is important to me, but to be able to take these challenges on and raise money for a fantastic local cause at the same time makes crossing the finish lines that much more meaningful.”

Simon regularly works away on ships and continues his training by running the perimeter of the ship in his spare time.

Senior fundraiser Faye Henderson said: “Simon is extremely determined and we are grateful to have the support of such a dedicated and proactive person.”

Simon has raised a £285 so far. To support him go to www.justgiving.com/Simon-Hanson2.
