A SINGER who is touring with Lionel Richie will perform at a Huddersfield church hall.

Philippa Hanna is not unknown to music fans in the town, recently packing Costa Coffee for a gig.

And on Sunday she’ll swap a crowd of thousands as the support act for Lionel Richie for a Milnsbridge church.

Philippa is a young singer songwriter from Sheffield who is quickly making a name for herself.

Sharon Beaumont from the Grace Community Church, Milnsbridge has helped bring Philippa to town. She said: "We booked Philippa before we knew she was touring with Lionel Richie, but it’s amazing she can come and perform here.

"I’ve seen her a few times before. The last time she was at Costa Coffee in Huddersfield and she can really connect with the audience. Her songs can reach out to teenagers and portray a positive message. It’s not gospel or church related but it has meaning."

Philippa is an ambassador for the Compassion charity and 50% of the proceeds of the Milnsbridge gig will go to the cause and the other 50% to the Sow the Seeds cause which funds outreach work in Indian slums.

See Philippa, along with local band Les Anon at the United Churches Healing Ministry, The Elm at 78 New Street, Milnsbridge, on Sunday, November 25. Entry is by the way of a donation. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and its first come first in.
