VILLAGERS will gather for an annual musical get-together next weekend.
The revived Golcar Sing will take place from 2.45pm next Sunday.
The event was first held in 1905 but stopped running after 1951 because of a lack of interest.
The Golcar Sing was revived in 2008 and is now in its fifth consecutive year.
This year’s event will include traditional hymns and three choruses from Handel’s Messiah accompanied by Huddersfield Wind Band, conducted by Adrian Baxter.
Singers from choirs, churches and community groups are welcome to join in. They are asked to bring copies of Messiah.
Malcolm Fairless will conduct, the organist will be George Marsden and Stewart Culpan will compere.
The sing will take place in Golcar Junior and Infant School playing fields, or in Providence Methodist Church if the weather is bad.
Participants are asked to bring their own seating if the sing takes place outdoors.
