CHOIRS have taken to the stage over the last couple of days of The Mrs Sunderland Music Festival.
The event has seen a huge influx of choirs enter the competition this year and volunteers say it reflects a new interest in group singing.
Volunteers Elaine Lee, Elaine Rawling and Enid Nicholls spent hours of their time putting together the choir schedule.
Elaine Lee, General Secretary, said: “Choirs seem to be back in fashion again.
“There's been a lot of coverage on TV lately with shows such as Last Choir Standing, and it’s become more popular.
“We’ve had more choirs than ever before enter this year.”
Yesterday Lindley Junior School Year 8 and under choir impressed adjudicator Margaret Smith so much they were awarded first prize.
