It was Honley’s busiest day of the year.

Holy Trinity Church in the village hosts a Christmas tree festival every year and on Saturday more than 600 people turned out for a day of festive fun.

Deborah Fawcett, of Trinity’s activity committee, said: “This was our 12th year and we had about 40 trees decorated by community groups in the village.

“There was Santa in his grotto, Yorkshire Traction Honley Band and Honley Ladies Choir, hot food and a cake stall.

“It was our busiest year yet. We had lots of visitors, many of them from outside the village, who enjoyed the street market. It’s our gift to Honley.”
