CHILDREN have been having flipping good fun at school.

They celebrated Pancake Day with some tasty offerings at Nields Primary School in Slaithwaite.

And they ensured the pancakes were made with Fairtrade goods.

The pupils held a Big Brew event which featured cakes they had made in school with Fairtrade goods during Fairtrade Fortnight.

And in a nod to Shrove Tuesday yesterday, they made pancakes too.

Year one teacher Elizabeth Robinson said: “The children love baking. They’ve been learning about Fairtrade and taking part in activities.”

All the profits from the Big Brew will go to their partner school in Uganda.

And they’re hoping to welcome representatives of the school to Slaithwaite in the coming weeks.
