A DEVELOPER wants to build dozens of homes in a village.

Marsden-based SB Homes has asked Kirklees Council for permission to construct 28 houses, seven flats and a maisonette at the former Empire Works site in Slaithwaite.

The two and three-storey homes would be made of natural stone, render and timber cladding.

SB Homes also plans to construct a new access from Howgate Road to the 0.75 hectare triangular site.

Seven residents have written to Kirklees about the proposal.

Their concerns include that the development density is too high and that Howgate Road is too narrow to cope with the extra traffic.

The council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee will decide on the proposal at its meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall at 1pm on Thursday.
