Volunteers who run a meals on wheels service inspired by the Hairy Bikers are back on TV tomorrow.
Foodie duo Dave Myers and Si King helped set up Slaithwaite Meals on Wheels two years ago.
The scheme has proved so successful it now delivers 30 meals every Wednesday.
The Hairy Bikers returned to the village to catch up on progress and the film will be screened on BBC2 at 8pm.
Dave and Si joined 30 volunteers for a party to celebrate the delivery of the group’s 100th meal.
The party was held at the Handmade Bakery in Slaithwaite and food was provided by the Batter Sea Fish Bar in Manchester Road, run by one of the volunteers, Binnie Joshi Barr.
Binnie said the Hairy Bikers were delighted at how the meals on wheels service had grown.
She added: “We take out 30 meals every Wednesday and the service is greatly appreciated by the recipients.
“We have a really great team and are always on the lookout for more volunteers and for more elderly or disabled people to whom we can deliver.”
Slaithwaite Meals on Wheels was set up by a group of village businesswomen known as the Calendar Girls.
They provide healthy, home-cooked food with produce locally-grown and supplied.
Meanwhile, Bikers star Dave Myers says he is looking forward to layering on the fake tan as he immerses himself in Strictly Come Dancing, which returns on Saturday.
The long-haired, bearded star – who is not known for being particularly image-conscious – also says he is up for anything and is prepared to be dressed in glitter.
Myers, 55, said his ambition is to make it as far as the heat at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, which he visited as a child and which is down the coast of north west England from his home in Barrow-in-Furness.
The former steelwork furnace worker, who went on to become a prosthetic make-up specialist for TV before finding fame as a chef, said: “I want to enjoy it and I am going to be enthusiastic. I am going to wear as much fake tan and glitter as possible. I’ve never fake tanned before – I’ll do anything.”
“This isn’t the type of thing you can blag – it’s going to take solid hard work,” he added.
