THE annual Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival is under way.

A host of activities for all the community has been organised, from school performances to the ever-popular lantern festival.

Pupils at Slaithwaite CofE Primary School will be presenting their own world premier of the story Moon Man.

Students at Colne Valley Arts College are taking part in a performance specially composed for the festival.

Suzanne Hamilton, head of creative arts at the school, said: “We are all very excited about being able to perform our new piece at this year’s Moonraking Festival.

“It is another opportunity to engage with the community and to give the students valuable experience in performance.”

The Moonraking festival runs until next Saturday, when the lantern finale takes place, starting from Carr Lane at 6.30pm.
