SLAITHWAITE storyteller Susanna Meese has been shortlisted for a national award.

Susanna, who set up her company, Telling Tales, two years ago, has been nominated for best newcomer in the British Awards for Storytelling Excellence (BASE).

The BASE awards ceremony takes place at York Library, on September 29.

Susanna, 42, said: “It’s great to be nominated. I’d thought about the awards, but I didn’t think that much about entering them. So when I got the email saying I’d been nominated it was brilliant.”

Ms Meese has represented Britain at the International Children’s Theatre Festival, in Macedonia, earlier this month.

She will be telling tales at libraries across Kirklees as part of Kirklees Council’s Summer Buzz for children. For details visit: www.kirklees.gov.uk/events/documents/summer_buzz_2012.pdf
