SELFISH fly-tippers are forcing motorists to 'slalom' down a quiet Huddersfield street.

Kilner Bank resident Chris Haigh is disgusted with the tyres and household rubbish abandoned on the narrow road.

She said: "It's horrendous. You have to do a slalom to drive through the rubbish."

Mrs Haigh said fly-tipping had been a problem in that part of Bradley Mills for a long time.

She added: "I've been here six years and every week new rubbish is dumped on the road.

"We used to get hundreds of tyres abandoned here. At the moment there's a freezer which has been there a month."

Mrs Haigh is angry with the fly-tippers for exploiting the quiet of Kilner Bank.

She said: "People think they can dump stuff here because there aren't many people around. Why can't they just go to the tip?"

As a nurse, Mrs Haigh is particularly worried about a batch of household waste dumped two weeks ago.

She said: "It was a health hazard, there were used nappies. We could end up with a rat problem if this goes on."

Police are investigating the incident and have found letters to an address in Moldgreen among the litter.
