A TEENAGER was fed up with her brother's car blocking the family driveway.

So Mirfield girl Emily Golec took drastic action and called in the Army!

And they took even more dramatic action, by having the rusting car crushed by a tank driven by Emily, 17.

She got the chance to wreak her revenge by winning a radio station contest.

She was so angry with the car obstructing the family driveway on Holmdene Drive for four years that she called on the Territorial Army to take action.

Local radio station Galaxy 105's Breakfast Show had appealed for listeners to nominate items belonging to a close friend or relative that they would love to smash up with a tank. Their Thank The Tank promotion with the TA provided Emily with the perfect answer to her problem.

After answering a couple of questions on air she was given the chance to smash up her brother's car.

Emily said: "His red Ford Escort was in the driveway for four years.

"The postman couldn't get past it. The wheeled bin couldn't get past it. Someone even tried to nick it twice - and didn't bother because it wouldn't go anywhere."

Her brother, Adam, 21, moved out of the family home some time ago, but left his broken car in the family driveway - to his sister's annoyance.

Emily got her revenge when it was crushed at the TA barracks in York.

Adam said: "I wanted to keep it. It cost me just £300 and had been part of my life for years. It was a real little honeymobile.

"I feel gutted. It took me to Blackpool with my mates - but we had to get towed back. It worked, it just needed a bump-start.

"I might have spent the money on it one day."

Adam received £500 compensation for his trauma.

And what will he spend the cash on? A car of course!
