FOUR Crosland Moor children put on a happy face to win a ``biggest smile" competition.

They are (from left) Aymen Khan, Taylor Alexandre, Lauren Brockbank and Sairam Khan. They were chosen as winners in the contest, run by SureStart Links 4.

The organisation helps families in Crosland Moor, Thornton Lodge and Lockwood to live healthier lives.

All the children go to Thornton Lodge Nursery Annexe at Crosland Moor Children's Centre, where an oral health event took place during National Smile Week.

The smile contest was part of the National Smile Week event, which taught children how to keep their teeth healthy.

Similar events were held at Mount Pleasant Junior, Infant and Nursery School in Lockwood and Thorton Lodge Nursery School at Yews Hill.

Sarah Wimpenny, oral health worker for Huddersfield Central and South Huddersfield primary care trusts, worked for SureStart Links 4 on the National Smile Week project.

She said: "All the children were really enthusiastic."

The smile contest winners received cameras, photo albums and a dental health kit.

The prizes were presented on Tuesday by Home 107.9 radio presenter Patrick Billington and Home 107.9 news editor Steven Naylor.
