MUSIC fans have a chance tonight to see a preview of a new, home-grown opera.
Ahead of its performance at the Edinburgh Festival, Josh Goodman’s The Man And Men will be performed at St Paul’s Hall, Queensgate, tonight at 7.30pm.
Written by Huddersfield University music student Josh Goodman, the hour-long piece is described as an abstract piece exploring male masculinity through the voice of a woman.
Tickets are just £2 and are available on the door.
21-year-old Josh has just completed his final year at Huddersfield University, but will take his piece The Man And Men to Edinburgh for a gruelling 23 performances from August 5 to 31.
He says the piece is the culmination of years of study of composition and teenage work in musical theatre.
There is no narrative in the play, but lead Ema Walton, soon to continue her studies with a masters in opera performance at Huddersfield, will represent “man” while five instruments will recreate “men”.
