SEVEN HUNDRED martial arts fans flocked to Huddersfield Sports Centre to witness the spectacular Clash of the Titans.

Former boxing champion Herol ‘Bomber’ Graham was the special guest and he watched alongside Mark Reynolds, of Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club.

There were star demonstrations in a variety of martial arts including kung fu, kick-boxing, karate, urban combat and submission wrestling.

Linthwaite Judo Club member Neil Gilpin put in a fantastic performance to beat a martial arts champion from the North East in a submission bout, despite weighing two stones less than his opponent.

There was a demonstration from the Birmingham-based Gatka squad, who appeared for the first time in the event’s 18-year history.

Colne Valley Black Belt Academy came third out of four in the War of the Roses competition.

There are plans for a boxing v karate bout next year.
