A YOUNG conman is still calling at homes in Huddersfield with sob stories.

The man knocks on doors - mainly in Newsome - and tells victims his car has broken down.

He sometimes says he needs jump leads, but at other times he has also asked for money for taxis.

A warning appeared in Monday's Examiner - and minutes after reading it a 45-year-old Aspley man found the suspect at his door.

This time he asked for jump leads, but the man turned him away.

He said: "I was off- hand with him. I want to warn others that he's still out there, trying to con people.

"I'm concerned that elderly people may fall for his sob stories."

A woman contacted the Examiner to say she, too, was a victim.

She had given police a statement with what she believes to be the suspect's name, address and phone number.

The conman is Asian and in his early 20s. He is 5ft 3in tall and has dark rings round his eyes.
