A BRIGHOUSE man abseiled down a football stand to raise money for a hospice.

Paul Connolly, 25, of Brighouse, abseiled 150ft down the east stand at Barnsley Football Club to raise £210 for Barnsley Hospice in memory of his uncle, Steven Harley.

Steven was due to be the first patient admitted to Barnsley Hospice, but died four days before it opened in May 2001.

Paul said: "The hospice does fantastic work and I'm pleased to be able to raise money for it."
