A HUDDERSFIELD youth association has held its first football tournament in memory of a major Muslim figure.
The Ahmadiyya Youth Association - part of the Huddersfield Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, staged a five-a-side tournament in the university's sports hall.
The Tahir Memorial Football Tournament was held in memory of Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Rahma'ullah, the fourth Khalifa of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, who on April 19 this year.
Ten teams of Muslim males aged 15 to 40, from Manchester, Bradford, Huddersfield and Keighley, took part.
Huddersfield had three teams, but only one made it to the semi-final, where it was beaten.
The final was between two Manchester teams.
Organiser Farooq Aftab said: "The event sought to strengthen ties of brotherhood, love and unity. It provided an ideal platform to socialise and integrate with others from various areas.
"The play and sportsmanship was excellent."
