A SOCCER hooligan involved in a Huddersfield pub brawl has been banned from the premises for two years.

Bradford Crown Court was told that Callum Mapplebeck, 18, of Park Lea, Bradley, was involved in an incident in The College Arms in which a man suffered cuts to his head.

Mapplebeck admitted his part in the fracas and pleaded guilty to a charge of affray.

Judge Roger Scott was told that Mapplebeck is already banned from football matches and is not allowed in Huddersfield town centre while games are going on.

He was also banned from travelling to Portugal for last summer's European Championships and is banned from going to the World Cup in Germany next summer.

He must also report to the police station when England are playing abroad.

Judge Scott said the root of Mapplebeck's problems was alcohol and he said he would have liked to have banned him from drinking.

Ordering him to serve a 12- months community penalty, which will include 120 hours of unpaid work, Judge Scott told him: "Your problem is that you drink too much.

"In fact the problem is that you drink alcohol at all. If I had the power I would make you drink orange or pineapple juice.

"You get into trouble by drinking too much."

Mapplebeck was told that under new legislation he could be jailed for a long time if he is convicted of another offence of violence.
