LOANS are being offered to existing businesses in Yorkshire that serve a social or environmental need.
Key Fund Yorkshire is providing loans of £1,000 to £15,000 to social enterprises to help with cash-flow problems caused by the credit crunch.
Ann Oldroyd, CEO of Key Fund Yorkshire, said: “It is more and more difficult for social enterprises to access loan support through traditional means, particularly when they are facing difficulty as a direct result of the credit crunch.”
The Key Fund has been given extra support from Yorkshire Forward’s transition loan fund – set up to help regional businesses, struggling in the economic climate.
The loans, available until July, are for profit-making businesses, which aim to generate money as a way to meet social and environmental goals.
The new scheme is in addition to the usual grant/loan packages Key Fund offers to social enterprises, charities and community or voluntary organisations, such as the £100,000 award to Sheffield Independent Film Ltd in 2007.
