A GROUP which aims to work to improve its village is urging more people to become involved.

Honley Civic Society aims to promote high standards of planning and architecture and educate people about the village as well as preserving features of historic or public interest in the village.

Secretary Ken Jenkin urged people to become involved.

He said: "The committee of the society has recent re-organised with the intent of becoming more proactive."

The society has around 35 to 40 members.

The Society meets on the second Thursday of each month from September through to May, usually with a guest speaker.

A local walk is also arranged with Trinity Church, Honley, usually on the third Sunday of each month, starting at 2pm.
