A NEW group with an eye to the past has got off the ground.
Thirty people attended the inaugural gathering of Mirfield Historical Society, organised by Imelda Marsden.
A second meeting will feature Brian Haigh, of Kirklees Council's cultural services, who will give a talk entitled What Is History?
It will take place at 7.30pm at Wellhouse Moravian Church, off Greenside Road, Mirfield, on Tuesday November 23.
The society's officers are: president - Imelda Marsden; chairman - David Pinder; secretary - David Marsden; treasurer - the Rev Kenneth Evans.
