LITTLE Sophie Edwards will have something to look forward to, thanks to a group offundraisers at a Huddersfield pub.

Laura Slavin and her friends Mick Holt, John Margison, and Debbie Baldwin raised an impressive £647 after hosting a fun day at the Wellington in Newsome.

The four friends worked behind the bar for the day in fancy dress, and donated all their wages to seven-year-old Sophie, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in February.

Dozens of families attended the event, which featured live music, a DJ, bouncy castle, raffle, a barbecue and a pub quiz.

Fundraiser Laura, of Marsh, who normally works as a beauty therapist, said: “Everyone had a great day and we are so pleased with the amount of money we were able to raise for Sophie.

“She is a fantastic young girl and we hope she will really enjoy spending the money we have raised.”

Sophie is currently receiving chemotherapy while she waits for a bone marrow donor.

Her family hope to take her out on a fun activity for the day, or even maybe a holiday to Disneyland with the money raised.
