A YORKSHIRE health trust aims to enrich its dementia care with a new project.

South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust has been awarded £15,000 as part of a national scheme to improve the quality of life for people with dementia in care homes.

The initiative will see staff work with patients to help put together their past.

The funding will also provide training, guidance and support for care home staff.

The project is part-funded by the Mental Health Foundation.

Sue Barton, Trust assistant director for older people’s services said: “We are delighted to have secured funding for this exciting and innovative project which will now be taken forward to enrich care for people with dementia.”
