NEW signs will be installed at an outdoor swimming spot, bringing a year-long dispute to an end.
British Waterways caused controversy last year by putting up notices telling people to stay out of Sparth Reservoir near Marsden – a popular swimming spot for generations.
Following protests, British Waterways agreed to discuss the issue with campaign group Save Sparth Swimming. The two reached a compromise.
On Thursday councillors agreed to spend £1,000 on two new signs at the reservoir.
Notices will explain that swimming is allowed, but ask people to do so responsibly.
Colne Valley Area Committee agreed to the funding at a meeting at Marsden Mechanics Hall.
