A GOLCAR social club has been transformed to provide long-term care for people with behavioural problems.

The former Golcar Socialist Club, on Greenway, has been redeveloped to house up to 10 people with conditions including autism.

The centre was renovated by Carlton Specialist Care.

It includes eight en-suite bedrooms, two self-contained flats, four lounges, a gym and a day area.

Facilities for hydrotherapy, arts and crafts and mobile sensory equipment are also provided.

Seventeen staff will offer one-to-one care.

Service manager John Sumpton (left) - who is seen with manager Gary Simpkins - said: "At the moment they put people with these conditions in different environments and none of them are appropriate.

"This has been built and designed to meet their needs."
