THE achievements of a college’s students were celebrated at an awards evening.

The event, which took place at the Galpharm Stadium, recognised the successes of more than 200 Year 7 to 11 students at Moor End Technology College, Crosland Moor, during the previous academic year.

Students were presented with awards recognising excellence in individual subjects, key stage 3 standard attainment test scores, the number of credits earned through the school’s reward system and attendance.

Students with early entry GCSE certificates were also rewarded.

Students who left in July were presented with their awards and certificates by Colne Valley MP Kali Mountford.

She was the guest speaker and spoke about how important it was to study in a good technology college.

Daniel Townend, who left last year, received the Holset Shield for highest academic achievement as well as other awards.

Other winners included Gregory Eagleton, who received the English prize, and Dawn Seddon, who received the prize for maths.

Teacher Debra Awty said the students really appreciated the ceremony.
